Items Sold 5.33 Round and 2.52 RoundYou may have heard of the “Four Cs” of diamond grading, but how exactly do they affect the amount of cash you’ll get for yours?
We explain below, but keep in mind that there are additional factors we consider that others may not. For example, sometimes a diamond can be re-cut to minimize imperfections, or to a more popular style. In some cases, that re-cut diamond, although it would now have a smaller carat weight, could become more valuable.
That’s just one advantage of selling your diamond to
Diamond Buyers International.
The Four
Cutting is what brings a diamond to life, but not all cuts are equal. Diamonds are unique in shape and size, and value is judged by both the shape and quality of the cut. Princess Cut and Brilliant Round Shape are popular choices. Other common shapes include Cushion, Emerald and Asscher. The angles of the facets, as well as the overall symmetry, can impact the value of your diamond.
The body color of your diamond is determined by comparing the diamond you send with a set of Master Diamonds. Our gemologist assesses your diamond in your favor against the set of master diamonds. Colors range from D (colorless) to Z (light yellow), with D being the most valuable. Some diamonds—considered “fancy”—defy this scale, and they can be worth more per carat than even a colorless diamond.
The clarity of your diamond is graded using a Gemological Microscope at 10x magnification. This close inspection ensures the greatest and most accurate value. The clarity simply defines how many inclusions or imperfections the gem has.
The carat weight of your diamond is measured using state-of the art scales to ensure precision and accuracy. If you have a certificate or diamond appraisal, it will be listed. Typical carat weights vary from .75 to 3.00.
